Infancy (0-12 months)

  • Milestones: 
    • Begins forming secure attachment with caregivers.
    • Starts to recognize emotions in others and mirror facial expressions.
    • Shows preference for familiar people, responds to comfort.
  • A securely attached infant is more likely to grow into a child who feels safe exploring the world and forming relationships with others.

Toddlerhood (1-3 years)

  • Milestones:
    • Expresses basic emotions (Joy, anger, fear).
    • Begins using words to describe feelings.
    • Starts parallel play and early cooperative behavior.

 

  • This is a messy, emotional time, and that's okay. Toddlers are learning self-regulation, not failing at it.

Early Childhood (3-5 years)

  • Milestones:
    • Develops empathy and understanding of others' perspectives.
    • Begins regulating emotions with support.
    • Participates in group play, shares and follows basic rules.
  • At this age, kids are watching everything adults do. Our words and actions become their SEL curriculum.
